At Brynllywarch, our music provision plays an important part in developing learner’s self-confidence and builds upon their self-esteem, which is beneficial through both school and life.
It gives learners the opportunity to express feelings and emotions through a range of different experiences and contributes towards learner’s well-being, which in turn contributes to developing a healthy life style and life skills. Learners are able to explore their individual creativity and imagination developing their skills to become creative contributors.
Implementation:
Sessions are delivered on a one to one basis, or as a small group. This helps learner build upon creativity and social skills. To help learners build upon these, they have the opportunity to explore a range of instruments such as drums, keyboards and guitars.
We also have our own recording studio onsite which gives learners the opportunity to write and record music, as well as use our DJ sets.
This provision also forms an important part of our therapeutic provision, allowing learners to express themselves.
Impact:
As well as developing a deeper understanding of the creative aspects and building on prior knowledge previously learnt, our music provision has been an important way for some our learners to develop their literacy skills as well as confidence and self-esteem.
Learners have the opportunity to progress onto a BTEC in Performing Arts from year 10 upwards.
