This week has been Mental Health Awareness week with an emphasis on “Anxiety”. Brynllywarch Hall School wanted to be a part of this, especially with the examination period approaching. We decided to take part in “Wear It Green Day” on Thursday 18th May to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.

We held activities including a bake sale held by the Year 11’s – they baked numerous fairy cakes which were decorated with icing, sprinkles, billionaire bits and flowers. The bake sale also included Welsh cakes, cupcakes and bara brith. The 6th form students set up a table with numerous leaflets signposting students for different mental health issues and held a raffle in the main hall where students could make a donation to anonymously nominate a staff member or student to receive a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates – our winners were Zoe and Mr Price – well done both!

Students also took part in the making of an inspiration wall – students and staff where asked to pick a name out of a box and then write something anonymously that was inspirational or nice about that person – the comments written were lovely and made us very proud of how caring and thoughtful our students are.

We all managed to raise just under £60 for the Mental Health Foundation, which is amazing! Well done everyone!
