As part of their Welsh Baccalaureate, a group of Year 10 pupils formed an Enterprise Team called The Price is Right. They designed and batch produced 30 sustainable advent calendars which they sold for £5 each, the lucky new owners can then use it year after year by simply adding a round chocolate treat of their choice into the specially designed holders, and culminating in a chocolate orange on the 25th!

The school has heavily invested in new CAD/CAM facilities ahead of the move to the new school. The pupils also used their newly found skills to design a range of Christmas decorations, which they sold at the Kerry Christmas Fair in the village hall. The total sales form both ventures raised an amazing £430.40, for which the school would like to say a big thank you to the community for supporting us.

Not only were the learners motivated by their qualification, but following a Dragon’s Den style pitch to the headteacher, Mr Randell allowed them to keep all profits after they have paid the school 20% tax (£86.08). The team used their profit to self-fund a trip to the Birmingham Christmas market and enjoy a lunch out, the remaining money was given to the school fund.

The pupils now want to raise funds for equipment to allow them to learn how to cast metal, and so they have designed and made a range of Valentines gifts which are available to buy in the Kerry shop. All profits from these sales go towards the school’s casting fund, so please support both the shop and the school if you can.
